Treated timber appearance

The treatment may initially give the timber a green tint, which will change as the battens weather. Natural variation, knots and movement should be expected. Apply any decorative coating only when the timber is suitably dry and follow the coating manufacturer’s instructions.

Planning the support frame

Install adequate vertical or horizontal supports at suitable centres to help prevent sagging or twisting. Use exterior-grade compatible fixings and protect freshly cut ends in accordance with the treatment supplier’s guidance.
